A modern side and rear extension to a beautiful period home in South Manchester. A large bright family living space is created with improved connectivity to the garden. A study and utility added to provide enhanced amenity. The whole house was refurbished including internal reconfiguration to create larger bathrooms and a dormer added to the roof to create a better bedroom with a view of the garden. Important existing features were restored while new additions were designed to be distinct and of their time. An approach to preserve the timeline of the house allowing old and new to be clearly read while creating an overall well-balanced appearance.
