Cottage Extension
Lincoln
The proposed extension was approved by the North Kesteven District Council in September 2022 and encompasses a thoughtful and meticulously planned extension to an existing cottage situated in the Brant Broughton Conservation Area.
The primary objective was to enhance the functionality of the cottage, whilst following conservation guidelines and protecting the unique character of the area. The property originally featured very modest accommodation which does not meet the needs of a growing family and frequent home working. The design was developed to respect the scale, materials, and aesthetic features of the original cottage whilst creating an open-plan multifunctional family space, additional bedrooms, additional toilets, increased storage, and an improved relationship with the garden. Materials have been used to match the character of the cottage, using red brick for the walls and metal sheeting on the roof to provide a restrained contemporary element, consistent with the simple detailing of the extension.
The project was designed by Guy Taylor Associates in Newark and the technical design was completed by Guy Taylor Associates in Manchester. The build is progressing on site.
