Bonningtons
Takeley, Essex
Key features/innovations: Bonington’s is a thoughtfully designed housing development featuring seven houses and one bungalow, located in the picturesque village of Takeley, Essex. The scheme aimed to honour and integrate design elements reminiscent of traditional Essex countryside barns, paying homage to the region’s rural heritage.
The layout of the development has been meticulously planned in direct response to the site’s unique characteristics, resulting in a free-flowing and breathable design with a central core. The buildings are strategically arranged around this core, incorporating varying setbacks and orientations to enhance the rural aesthetic.
A key feature of the scheme is the inclusion of a natural meadow, complemented by the planting of additional mature and semi-mature trees. These ecological enhancements not only contribute to the visual appeal but also create a natural buffer, ensuring a sense of privacy and seclusion from neighbouring properties.
