Modern Home in France

A Contemporary Home Incorporating Vernacular Architecture

Driven by a desire to create a spacious, light, contemporary home with panoramic views of the coastline. The concept for this house in Audierne, Northern France, was to incorporate the local vernacular style for large roofs over low buildings with our client's desire for a stylish modern space.

The house was to have a low energy demand and include sustainable technology and considered layouts. The entrance hall opens up into a double-height gallery with open-plan living space on the upper floor. Terraces over the ground floor accommodation connect to the living space, facilitating the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of our client.

The master bedroom features a mezzanine dressing space and a double height glazed wall offering expansive views of the beautiful French countryside.
