Parsons Mount Apartments

Award Winning Timber Framed Sustainable Apartments

A new sustainable development providing 22 sheltered housing units for a historic Almshouse Association, next to the Grade I listed church of St. Mary Magdalene in Newark.

A listed building on the site was also refurbished to provide communal facilities and accommodation for a full-time warden.

Sustainability was a major criterion from the start, and the proposals were designed with this in mind. The development utilises sustainable materials and building techniques such as green roofing, timber framed construction and high efficiency glazing to meet the requirements of Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.

The dwellings are designed to a high-standard and have achieved high scores in rating systems such as Housing Quality Indicators and Lifetime Homes. All units feature full disabled access as well as flexible living spaces which can be customised to suit the requirements of individual occupants.

The new build project won the Timber in Construction award for Best Social Housing Project 2013.

The refurbishment project was shortlisted for an LABC award.
