The concept for this house in Audierne, Northern France, was to create a spacious, light, contemporary home with panoramic views of the coastline. By incorporating the local vernacular style for large roofs over low buildings, our design blurred the lines between the local context and our clients desire for a stylish modern space.
The house was to be low energy, including sustainable technology and combining traditional materials with contemporary detailing. The entrance hall opens up into a double height gallery with open plan living space to the upper floor. Terraces over the ground floor accommodation connect to the living space facilitating the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of our client.
The master bedroom features a mezzanine dressing space and double height glazed wall offering expansive views of the beautiful French countryside.
